The only concert that I ever saw with my brother, was Robin Trower and Peter Frampton, in the early-mid nineties. Trower was one of my brother’s favorite guitarists, and I was well familiar with his blasts of post-Hendrix, stoner blues. It was actually kinda the perfect show for us to bond over.
Anyway, fast forward to now… genres like Stoner, Sludge, Doom, Proto-Metal traffic in similar territory to what Trower excelled at in the seventies, yet the man still does not receive the accolades befitting his talent. Upon leaving Procol Harum, Trower set his controls for heavy riff damage, filled with sustain and distortion, blazing a path into the hearts of heshers everywhere. It’s time for a Trower resurgence.
